Why Four To The Floor?
Four To The Floor: “an unaccented 4/4 rhythm pattern marked with a bass drum which at club levels takes over your entire body“
Disco, a new sound originating in the United States music scene began sweeping the globe in the 1970s. In addition taking its name from the French word discothèque for “library of phonograph records”. These were the dance nightclubs in which it was played.
The backbone to this sound: a steady rhythm of the bass drum 1, 2, 3, four-to-the-floor.
With vibrant beats, synthesisers, strings, horns and guitars it provided an energetic alternative to the rock music of the time. Because of this beat it forged the heritage of music genres of the future. As a result ultimately influencing the rise of electronic dance, house, hip-hop, techno, rap, EDM and the popular music we know and love.
So became an ever developing style of music that has been providing joy, euphoria and atmosphere. Happy times for over 40 years.
Above all, music is our thing – It was irresistible to take inspiration from anything else!
